Donner Pool is Columbus' outdoor city pool and has been recently renovated to bring the pool to current meet standards. It is an 8 lane, 50 meter course. The start end is 5'-0" and turn end of the pool is 4'-0". The pool is heated.
Warm-up and Warm-down Facilities
The east side of the pool has a diving well that divides into 8 lanes. The diving well serves as a warm-up and warm-down pool during the meet. The diving well is separated from the main pool by lane lines. Donner Swim Club does use lane lines for the warm-up/down pool. A lifeguard chair is also in place.
Award Area
These blocks are set on the north side of the pool near the scoreboard.
Timing System
Donner Swim Club purchased new Colorado Touch-Pads in 2003. These are used in conjunction with the OmniSport Timing System and HY-Tek Meet Manager. A multi-lane scoreboard will be located at the north end of the pool. The scoreboard records lane, place, and time. Thanks to Seymour Swimming for the use of their touch pads so that we can get 50 splits!
Public Announcement System
The pool area, hallways, and large room inside the building are equipped with a public announcement system. The system is operated from within the pool office, which is located near the start end of the pool. Typically, the announcer is seated outside the pool office, which overlooks the start end of the pool deck. From the office, the announcer can see the pool, starter, referee, and scoreboard.
Deck Seating Capacity
The deck has seating for over 100 swimmers.
In addition, there is a grassy area that will accommodate numerous swimmers.
Coaches line the walls on the west side of the pool with folding chairs. However, they have room to walk both sides.
Spectator Seating Capacity
Spectator seating capacity is over 500. Handicap accessible area would be on deck. There is a stairway leading to the spectator seating area.
Athlete Entrance
If athletes are camped outside of the pool area, they enter and exit the pool through the locker rooms to minimize congestion at the spectator entrances.
Swimmer Camping Facility and Location
Teams may bring tents to house their swimmers. A large fenced in grassy area is available for swimmers to camp.
Parking
Donner Center has ample parking. The main lot is north of the facilities. However, additional parking is available on the south side of the athletic facility, in an additional lot to the west of the pool, and along the streets.
